1-Day Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Excursions

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and drive you to Materuni Village, located on the lush lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the local community and briefed about the day’s activities.

Materuni Waterfalls Visit

If you choose to begin with the waterfalls, you’ll enjoy a guided walk through banana plantations, coffee farms, and small village paths. Along the way, your guide will share stories about local life and traditions. The hike is scenic and moderate, suitable for most travelers.

At the end of the trail, you’ll reach the breathtaking Materuni Waterfalls—a tall, powerful cascade surrounded by lush greenery. Here, you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and for the brave souls, enjoy a refreshing swim.

Chagga Coffee Excursion

The coffee experience is both fun and interactive. You’ll learn how the Chagga people traditionally grow, harvest, roast, and prepare coffee—all done by hand. Guests are encouraged to participate, sing along with local songs, and of course, taste freshly brewed organic coffee straight from the source. This isn’t café coffee; this is the real deal, passed down through generations.

Lunch & Relaxation

After completing both activities, you’ll enjoy a local lunch prepared by the villagers, offering a true taste of Chagga cuisine. It’s simple, fresh, and satisfying—just how it’s always been done.

Afternoon – Return to Hotel

Later in the afternoon, you’ll drive back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, carrying great memories, great photos, and probably a new appreciation for good coffee.
