Your day starts with a pre-dawn hotel pickup in Zanzibar around 5:30 AM, followed by a transfer to the domestic airport. A bush flight departs around 7:00 AM and lands in Selous by approximately 8:30 AM. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your guide and head straight into a morning game drive, offering your first chance to spot wildlife such as elephants, impalas, giraffes, and perhaps even lions. The drive concludes at your lodge around midday.
After a welcome drink, you will check in and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch. The early afternoon is free for rest and relaxation—some camps offer a swimming pool or shaded verandas overlooking the bush. At around 4:00 PM, you will depart on a boat safari along the Rufiji River, this scenic cruise lets you spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a wide variety of birds, all while enjoying the golden light of the African sunset. You’ll return to the lodge around 6:30 PM for a freshly cooked dinner and overnight in your safari lodge room.
You will start your second day early with a light breakfast served at the lodge around 6:00 AM. Then choose between a guided walking safari with an armed ranger ideal for learning about tracks, plants, and smaller wildlife or a traditional game drive to seek out predators like lions, hyenas, or leopards while they are still active. You will return to the lodge around 9:00 AM for a hearty brunch before preparing for departure.
At approximately 10:30 AM, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar, which typically departs between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Upon arrival back in Zanzibar around 1:00 PM, a transfer will be arranged to return you to your hotel or to connect with an outbound flight.
