4-Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek.

A warm welcome to Kigali in Rwanda and followed by briefing about your Uganda safari tour to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Board a comfortable and spacious 4x4 safari vehicle ready for your 4-5 hours’ journey inclusive of border crossing to Uganda via Katuna or Chanika.

Via Katuna, you will be connecting to Kabale then to Bwindi and through Chanika border, you drive to Kisoro then reach to check in at the lodge in Bwindi. Heavy lunch at leisure en-route and the entire evening once you have checked in will be spent relaxing at the lodge.

Enjoy a hefty breakfast while still at a luxury lodge in Bwindi and after, you will drive to Rushaga offices for briefing about gorilla trekking rules and also to be allocated to gorilla groups. Today is a special day of your life when you will meet the massive, gentle mountain gorillas in their natural environment and your journey into the lush Bwindi Impenetrable Forest starts at 8:00am after briefing.

Over 459 mountain gorillas all live in the verdant Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with 20 habituated gorilla families open for gorilla tourism and they co-exist with chimpanzees and many other mammals, reptiles, butterflies, elephants, buffaloes, 360 bird species, etc.

Tracking with Bwindi mountain gorillas today may take you 2-6 hours which also includes one hour for a close encounter and photography. Spending one hour with these gentle apes includes observing all their behaviors, how they copulate, feeding habits, grooming habits, socialization, social structure and a lot more. After, you will be led back to the park offices where gorilla trekking certificate will be given to you.

Go check out of your accommodation, then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale district, Southwestern Uganda. At Lake Bunyonyi, you will only be chilling in the evening, enjoying the refreshing cool breeze of the Lake accompanied by breathtaking view of its 29 charming islands dotted all over it.

After a leisurely breakfast back in your lodge, a canoe trek will begin early and you will be connecting to one of the magical islands on Lake Bunyonyi. 29 islands are on Lake Bunyonyi, but special interest will be on the Punishment Island for you to have a rich learning and experience on its unique history, why it is referred to as the “Punishment” Island. As you head to the island and also while there are diverse birds to sight.

Retreat from the canoe trek to punishment island experience and relax at the lodge. In the evening, you will also meet the Batwa pygmies who were displaced from Bwindi and Mgahinga to allow establishment of the 2 protected areas as Uganda National Parks.
