5-Day Tanzania Camping Safari Adventure

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha for overnight and safari briefing. This day is reserved for rest after your journey and final preparation for the adventure ahead. Depending on arrival time, you may relax at the lodge, enjoy the garden surroundings, or take a short walk around the town.

Arusha is known as the safari capital of Tanzania, nestled at the base of Mount Meru with a pleasant climate and green scenery. Your guide will go through the safari program, camping procedures, and what to expect during the next days in the wilderness.

Arusha – Tarangire National Park (Public Campsite)

After breakfast, you depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. The drive takes you through Maasai villages and open savannah landscapes before entering the park gate for your first game drive.

Tarangire is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife during the dry season. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and many antelope species. Lions are often spotted resting in the shade, while leopards occasionally appear in the trees. The Tarangire River attracts animals throughout the day, making it an excellent wildlife viewing area.

In the late afternoon, you proceed to the public campsite inside the park where your cook prepares dinner as you enjoy the authentic sounds of the African night.

After early breakfast, you depart Tarangire and journey towards the world-famous Serengeti. The drive passes through the Ngorongoro highlands with beautiful scenery and Maasai homesteads along the way. As you descend into the Serengeti plains, the landscape opens into endless savannah.

Game viewing begins the moment you enter Serengeti. This park hosts the Great Migration and an incredible number of predators. You may encounter lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and large herds of wildebeests and zebras moving across the plains. The vastness of Serengeti gives a true feeling of untouched wilderness.

You arrive at the public campsite in the central Serengeti area in the evening for dinner and overnight under the stars.

Today is dedicated to a full day exploring the Serengeti ecosystem. With packed lunch, you spend the entire day tracking wildlife across different areas of the park depending on animal movements.

Expect close encounters with predators such as lions lounging on kopjes, cheetahs scanning the plains, and possibly leopards resting in acacia trees. Large herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and various antelopes are common sightings. Birdlife is also abundant, adding color and sound to the savannah.

This immersive day allows you to appreciate why Serengeti is considered one of the best wildlife destinations on Earth.

You start the day with an early morning game drive when predators are still active and the plains are golden with sunrise light. This is an excellent time to witness hunting behavior or large herds moving in the cool morning air.

After brunch at the campsite, you depart Serengeti and drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey offers scenic views of the highlands and Maasai communities grazing their cattle.

You arrive at the campsite located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight. The cool air and panoramic views into the crater create a truly memorable atmosphere.

After early breakfast, you descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. The crater floor is one of the most concentrated wildlife areas in Africa and offers a high chance of spotting the Big Five within a short time.

You may see black rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas, and large flocks of flamingos on the soda lake. The unique ecosystem and natural enclosure of the crater make wildlife viewing exceptional.
