Day 1: Marangu Gate (1,870 m) – Mandara Hut (2,720 m)
After registration at Marangu Gate, the trek begins through dense rainforest. The trail is well-defined and gradually ascends to Mandara Hut. Optional short walk to Maundi Crater for panoramic views. Overnight in mountain huts.
Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
The landscape transitions from rainforest to moorland with giant lobelias and scenic views of Mawenzi Peak. A steady ascent leads to Horombo Hut, where climbers begin to feel the altitude. Overnight in huts.
Day 3: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)
