Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp (3,050m):

Drive ~45 minutes from Moshi to Machame Gate. Trek through rainforest along a winding ridge to Machame Camp.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,850m):

Leave the rainforest, cross a valley along a steep ridge, then continue west onto a river gorge to Shira Camp.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp (4,000m):

Ascend the ridge toward Lava Tower (4,650m), then descend to Barranco Camp. Crucial day for acclimatization.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,090m):

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, Drive to Moshi (1,680m):

Descend through forest to Mweka Gate, receive summit certificates, then drive back to Moshi.
