Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,895m):

Begin your adventure with a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate, then trek through untouched rainforest to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp, spotting colobus monkeys along the way.

Distance: 6 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hrs | Habitat: Rainforest

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,505m):

Ascend through the forest into moorland with stunning views of the Shira Plateau.

Distance: 8 km | Hiking Time: 5–6 hrs | Habitat: Moorland

Day 3: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp (3,810m):

A gentle hike across the plateau brings you to Shira 2 Camp, offering wide-open vistas of Kibo Peak.

Day 4: Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower (3,960m):

Climb high to Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending to Barranco Camp. This “hike high, sleep low” day is key for acclimatization.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp (4,035m):

Trek up the Barranco Wall and across valleys to Karanga Camp, with sweeping views of glaciers above.

Day 6: Karanga to Barafu Camp (4,640m):

Continue to Barafu Camp, your base before the summit push. Rest and prepare for your midnight ascent.

Begin the final climb around midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise — the highest point in Africa! Celebrate your achievement, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,980m):

Descend through lush forest to the gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate before returning to Arusha for a hot shower and celebration dinner.
