Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, rises to 4,566 meters above sea level within the beautiful landscapes of Arusha National Park. The mountain offers a challenging and rewarding trekking experience and can be climbed in as little as three days, making it a popular choice for hikers seeking a shorter mountain adventure. Mount Meru is also widely used as an acclimatization trek before attempting Mount Kilimanjaro. Unlike Kilimanjaro, all hikers ascending Mount Meru are accompanied by an armed park ranger for safety. Along the trail, you will enjoy an exciting combination of hiking and wildlife viewing, with opportunities to encounter African buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and black-and-white colobus monkeys while taking in spectacular views of the surrounding scenery.
