9 Days Ethiopian Wildlife Photography Tour

Arrival in Addis Ababa and City Tour:

You'll arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and meet your Armaye Ethiopia Tours representative. You'll begin your city tour of Addis Ababa, including visits to Mount Entoto, the National Museum of Ethiopia, Merkato, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Your overnight stay will be at Capital Hotel and Spa.

Fly from Addis Ababa to Gondar and Visit the Simien Mountains:

You'll take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Gondar. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our drivers and continue the journey to Debark, located about 100 km from Gondar, where the park headquarters are situated. After completing all entrance formalities, you will head to the Simien Mountains. You'll enjoy a short hike around the lodge to spot and photograph the Gelada baboons, also known as the "bleeding-heart baboons."

You'll take a morning drive into the park for the day trip. The day drive & hike will take you in a beautiful views of the Simien landscape and the endless mountain ridges. You have a chance to observe and photograph the endemic gelada baboons, Walia Ibex, Bush Buck, and Cliff's springer. Also birds such as Lammergayer, Francolins & Ankober Serin.

In the early morning, you will drive back to Gondar and take a flight to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival in Addis, you'll catch a flight to the Bale Mountains. Once you arrive, you'll meet your driver and head to Dinsho, the park headquarters. In this woodland area of the park, you will have the chance to spot numerous Ethiopian endemic mammals, including the Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s Bushbuck, and Bohor reedbuck.

In the morning after breakfast, you'll drive to Sanetti Plateau above 4000 meters, with Afro-alpine moorland, beautiful wild alpine scenery. You'll spend the whole day seeing the rare and endangered Canid species Ethiopian Wolf, the Ethiopian Hare, water birds like the Blue-winged Goose, the Ruddy Shelduck, the Wattled Crane, and others

Full Day at Sannetti Plateau and Harena Forest:

You'll spend the day exploring the Sannetti Plateau in search of the elusive Ethiopian Wolf. In the afternoon, you'll drive down to Harena Forest to observe the endemic Bale Monkey feeding on bamboo trees, along with other monkey species.

Drive to Awash National Park:

After breakfast, you'll depart from Bale Mountains and head towards Awash National Park. On the drive, you'll pass by Lake Beseka before entering the park. Along the way, you may encounter Olive and Hamadrias baboons, as well as a variety of bird species, including the Somali Golden-breasted Robin, Nile Valley Sunbird, Lineated Pytilia, Red and Yellow Barbet, Yellow-throated Serin, Sombre Chat, and Arabian Bustard.

Visit Alideghe Wildlife Reserve:

After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to Alideghe Game Reserve for a game drive, spotting wildlife such as Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, and Somali Ostrich, along with birds like the Brown Snake-Eagle and Secretary Bird. Afterward, you’ll head to Doho Lodge for lunch and relax at the natural hot springs. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a game drive around Ilala Plains, where we may see Beisa Oryx, Somali Oryx, and rare species like the Bat-Eared Fox.

Return to Addis Ababa:

After a morning excursion around the lodge, you will begin your journey back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, you will have some free time to relax or explore the city further. In the evening, you'll enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant, where you can savor local dishes and experience cultural performances. After dinner, you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight.
