This is a great tour for beginners to explore this majestic, giant mountain. It’s impossible to climb the famous high Mount Kilimanjaro in a day, but our day trip to this iconic snow-capped mountain will give you a shot to scramble up the first leg of the well-known Marangu Route to Mandara Hut. On your way through the thick rainforest, you will come across chattering birdlife and colobus monkeys. Don’t forget to look out for the curious blue monkeys. You hike for 3 hours up and 2 hours down.

We will pick you up in Arusha and drive to the gate of Kilimanjaro NP, a 1-hour drive to arrive at Marangu Gate. You will hike in the tropical rainforest alongside the impressive vegetation with the chance to catch a glimpse of black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and various bird species. Our knowledgeable English-speaking guide will inform you about Kilimanjaro and will explain the different species of plants and animals you will see. You will also meet other mountain climbers descending from the top, and perhaps some of them will tell you of their experiences and you can start to dream about a climb of your own!
After the 3 to 4-hour hike, you will reach Mandara Hut (2,700m) where you will have a well-earned rest and lunch. Your guide will take you on a short 15-minute hike to the Maundi Crater where you can enjoy wonderful views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will then descend back to the gate from where you will return to your hotel.
