The Machame Route, also called the “Whiskey Route,” is one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic and popular trails. It is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, gradual acclimatization, and a higher chance of reaching the summit compared to shorter routes. Starting from Moshi, this six-day trek takes you through diverse ecosystems, from lush rainforest to open moorlands, alpine desert, and finally the snowy summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
Each day is carefully planned to allow your body to acclimatize, helping reduce the risk of altitude sickness while you enjoy the breathtaking views. Experienced guides and porters support you throughout the climb, carrying gear, preparing meals, and ensuring safety. The Machame Route is challenging yet rewarding, offering a mix of adventure, natural beauty, and personal achievement. Along the way, you’ll pass through iconic landmarks like the Lava Tower, Shira Plateau, and the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. Summit day is a memorable experience, as you start in the dark, hike under the stars, and witness the sunrise from the highest point in Africa
