Your journey begins at Machame Gate, where registration is completed before entering the lush rainforest. The trail is rich with giant trees, moss, and exotic birds. You may spot colobus monkeys as you hike through the dense forest to Machame Camp. The day ends with dinner and overnight at camp.
After breakfast, continue your ascent through the forest into the moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper with wide views of the Shira Plateau. On clear days, you can see Kibo Peak in the distance. Arrive at Shira Camp for rest, dinner, and overnight stay under the mountain sky.
This is an important acclimatization day. Hike up to Lava Tower (4,600m) where you will have lunch and experience high-altitude conditions. Afterward, descend to Barranco Camp through the beautiful “Senecio forest.” This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adapt to altitude.
Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling but non-technical rock scramble with incredible views. Continue through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp, where you will rest and prepare for the final push to base camp.
Hike gradually to Barafu Camp, the base camp for summit night. The landscape becomes harsh and rocky as you enter the alpine desert zone. Arrive early, rest, hydrate, and prepare your gear for the midnight summit attempt.
Wake up around midnight and begin your final ascent under the stars. Pass Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement at 5,895 meters before descending to Barafu for rest and then continuing down to Mweka Camp for overnight stay.
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. At the gate, you will receive your summit certificate. Your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your unforgettable adventure.
